Context Awareness medium cohesion group Sample — pending final import

The Changing Person / Activity

Reading and responding to shifting scene contexts

Preparation

  • Players sit in a semicircle. Facilitator stands where everyone can see.
  • Establish a simple scene — for example, two players cooking together in a kitchen.

Facilitation

  1. Two players begin the scene. Give them 30 seconds to establish who they are and what they’re doing.
  2. On the facilitator’s clap, one variable changes. Announce one at a time, escalating:
    • The person has changed (new relationship, new age, new mood).
    • The activity has changed (still the same people, but now they are packing to leave).
    • The location has changed (they are in a boat, still cooking).
  3. Players stay in the scene through the change; the audience notes how they adapt.
  4. Rotate players every 90 seconds so everyone plays.

Evaluation

  • Players: which change was hardest to absorb without stopping the scene?
  • Audience: name a moment when the scene felt truest after a change — what made it work?
