Context Awareness medium cohesion group Sample — pending final import
The Changing Person / Activity
Reading and responding to shifting scene contexts
Preparation
- Players sit in a semicircle. Facilitator stands where everyone can see.
- Establish a simple scene — for example, two players cooking together in a kitchen.
Facilitation
- Two players begin the scene. Give them 30 seconds to establish who they are and what they’re doing.
- On the facilitator’s clap, one variable changes. Announce one at a time, escalating:
- The person has changed (new relationship, new age, new mood).
- The activity has changed (still the same people, but now they are packing to leave).
- The location has changed (they are in a boat, still cooking).
- Players stay in the scene through the change; the audience notes how they adapt.
- Rotate players every 90 seconds so everyone plays.
Evaluation
- Players: which change was hardest to absorb without stopping the scene?
- Audience: name a moment when the scene felt truest after a change — what made it work?
